Synopsis of Play: Wasserkopf, who was graduated from an expensive private school eighteen years ago, has been unable to hold a job, hence returns to the school and demands the refund of his tuition fees. He learned nothing, he alleges, hence consents to a re-examination in which his object is to fail, and in which the object of the faculty is to pass him. He makes up his own multiplication tables as he goes along, he declares “ and if you add up eight apples and two pears the answer is twenty-seven apricots.” Nevertheless, his former teachers succeed in outwitting him.
